Michael Jackson Lives On!

I know, I know. I had to, sorry.

Most people think of Michael Jackson first as the dead king of pop, second as a child molester, and third as the guy with the plastic face. Only the first is accurate.

Numero 2 is incorrect because: the judge did, after all, find him not guilty both times. I reckon he probably did touch the kids, but not in that way, you know what I mean? I doubt he even knew that he could be bollocked for what he was doing. I mean, he was famous from the age of 11. He never really had the chance to grow up properly like regular people. And his dad abused him, at least according to wikipedia. I'm not defending molestation, but seriously, what do you expect?

Numero 3 is incorrect because plastic surgery does not involve plastic. The word "plastic" derives from the Greek plastikos meaning to mold or to shape; it is nothing to do with actual plastic. People are really freaking stupid sometimes. I'm sorry but people who think plastic surgery involves plastic are about as irritating, to me, as those who use "of" where grammar dictates there should be a "have" eg "should of". The fools.

So anyway. In his spare time he married Elvis' daughter and had 3 kids, not neccesarily with her (IDK, sorry), was diagnosed with a skin-lightening condition + something else which made him sensitive to sunlight (which is why he was black in the 80s and magically became white by 2000). He also openly supported around a zillion charities (OK, 40 max) and made some pretty damn good music.

Unfortunately, MJ also managed, despite making billions from being the King of Pop an all, became severly in debt. Just when he was about to make a huge comeback and get money, he died. Sucks, huh?

BUT he is not dead! I mean, he is dead as in no longer breathing, no longer posessing a pulse etc. But he is very much alive so long as people still remember him. Shakespeare, for example, got pretty frikkin old living like that xD
So we will continue to moonwalk, to argue over whether he really did screw with kiddies or not, to play his records and dance (badly) to them. And until we stop doing so he is not dead.

So anyway... we will miss ol' MJ. He was pretty awesome while he lasted.

RIP.

Borderline Anarchism

Anarchism is the political view that there should be no government and we should all get along using a system of mutual co-operation.

Half the time I'm of a similar opinion.

I hate the way governments have so much control over you.
Up until the 80s or 90s you could still be hung for treason.
Nowadays they have the right to stick you in a cage if you do something they say is illegal.
Or if they think you did.

Im not saying I want rapists and serial killers and so on to be allowed to wander the streets as they will; Im saying I don't like that they have so much power over us. Over me. When did I consent to this? Oh yeah- I didn't. And yet by living here and being a citizen of this country I must abide by the rules of this country.

I could just move. But all countries are the same, most worse; in many US states you can still be killed for killing, in Iraq and so on you can be killed for sleeping with someone of your own gender.
This is something that has always confused me; it is wrong to kill, so the US gov. will kill the killers. No one should have the power to take a human life against the victims' will; so they'll make you a victim of the crime you perpetrated. What?
This would be more understandable if they raped rapists, stole theives' TVs and so on, but they don't. How is one thing OK but not the others? The law makes no sense. So; moving's out.

Of course, I could go set up a country for anarchists where we all shared the necessary work; no one would be exploited or hungry, and there'd be no need for money.
That's the kind of society I would like to live in.
But the only uninhabited country is Antarctica, and that's because it's uninhabitable. Also, it's owned by many other govs and so on, so that idea too is dead in the water.

So what are people like me meant to do?
Give up to society, go quietly when they come for us, and vote for the government whose policies bear the closest resemblance to your own. This is a fat lot of frikkin good if you don't want a government.

I apologise for going all extreme-left-wing on you. I'm not actually an anarchist- although I do very much like the idea, I have a bad feeling that if it came about it may go down little better than communism: people wouldnt want to co-operate, people wouldn't want to take responsibility for their own cock-ups, the stronger would begin to take advantage of the weaker, and so on.

No, I am a socialist. This is vaguely similar to communism in that ultimately, the goal is for one world gov. Humanity as a whole would vote to decide what to do with the worlds recources: we'd split the food and water etc equally between everywhere and there would be no room for discrimination since we'd all be ruled by ourselves, since we'd all be so deeply involved in the gov.
This still isn't 100% my ideal of what I would like the world to be. But it is the closest I can get to it that seems remotely likely of ever coming about, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for reading, even though it was about politics xD =]

Devour the Earth

Devour the Earth

Please watch the above video.

Yes, it is vegetarian propaganda.

Yes, it is over 20 minutes long.

But... it's all true.
Hence, please watch it.

We're killing ourselves.
Killing our earth.
Killing... Christ, it seems it's all we're good for.

The People Who Run My School are Probably Communists.

That's a pretty bold statement huh?

Okay well I don't really, truly believe that they are Commies BUT...

They are sure as hell trying to strip us of our individuality, our identity, to turn us all into mindless, conforming clones.
Go ahead and call me paranoid. I already know I am. But just LOOK at the EVIDENCE:

  • No makeup will be worn in school. Attempting to make oneself feel pretty - we teenagers have pretty fragile egos ya know - interferes too much with learning. This will not be tolerated.
  • Top buttons must be done up. We gotta look smart. Never mind that it cuts off our air supply. If we all do 'em up, we all look the same. Bear in mind that in our planners it says that the uniform code allows for some variation between students. Suuuure...
  • Socks must be black. Coloured socks show individuality. If you are individual, you are not the same. If you are not the same, you are not conforming. If you are not conforming, you must be nonconformist. If you are nonconformist you must be attempting to bring about the end of our whole system of society, and therefore must be stopped. <--- an idea of what went through our teachers' heads when they thought this one up xD
  • No trainers may be worn. We must be smart. Lack of smartness shows lack of dedication, showing the school up as one where the pupils don't care. Therefore we wear smart black leather (or polyurethane if you're *gasp* veggie) shoes to show our sameness.
  • Hair must not be unusually coloured or "bizzarely" styled. Strange hair changes the way one's brain cells work, making one see oneself as "diffrent". As stated above in socks section, we must stamp this diffrence out at all costs.
  • Shirts must be tucked in. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, after all.
  • Skirts must be of appropriate length. We can't have our lovely young ladies grow up to be prostitutes after all. Which is of course inevitable in those who wear skirts above the knee.

Basically, they are trying to make us all the same. Believe it or not I'm not a nonconformist (just for clarity's sake lol) - I am perfectly willing to conform, so long as I know and approve of what I am conforming to.

Currently I wear makeup and coloured socks to school. I also leave my top button open and do not tuck in my shirt. I am wearing the uniform - I see no problem. They do....

Further proof of their control-freakiness: on the VLE it says:
"By logging on to the Bedale High School Moodle, or using the guest account you are agreeing to follow the schools acceptable use policy and the BHS-VLE User Policy. All use of the VLE is monitored and every action you take is logged."

See that? Every action you take is logged. They are watching us. I personally do not agree to their terms, but we have to use the VLE to get our IT GCSE. I don't want to stupidly lose a whole qualification (or two, or 4, depending how much work I do) through protesting. But I think we have a right to know why we are being watched and to what ends. I tell you, this is practically a violation of our privacy rights.

So... do not come to my school if you are at all likely to break under their rules and lose your individuality. After all, without diversity Britain hasn't talent xP

The Highs and Lows of Insomnia

I have "suffered" from insomnia for years now. I forget exactly how long. Anyway, right now I'm frikkin exhausted as a result of such and so will blog about it xD

My insomnia is repetitive - I will wake up at anytime from 3-5am (most frequently 3am exactly) anywhere from once to 4 times a week. Once I am awake, I will not be able to sleep again for around another two hours. This past week's been bad - 4 times, 5 if you count my waking at 5 this morning after falling asleep again at 4.30.

Which is why I'm so tired btw =]

Anyway, sometimes insomnia can be kinda nice. I mean, when it's fairly infrequent and I don't get too tired, it's nice to get up for a little while at 3 since I know I won't be able to sleep. Have you ever seen the world at 3am? It's wonderfully peaceful. It's a good time to just think or read a book.

Other times it kinda sucks. I once tried researching the causes of insomnia in the hope of finding a cure. After being presented with a list of worrying-sounding things such as mental illness, stress, hormonal imbalance, depression etc I decided I'd rather be ignorant of the cause, and therefore cure, and just deal with it. Trouble is that when you're shattered and you wake up only to see the familiar looking blackness, unhappy in the knowledge that you won't sleep again for a while, it doesn't really have the same charm. Especially if you've been wathching horror films the night before - you try getting to sleep at 4am, certain that the slightest noise is Freddy Krueger or somone about to burst through your door because you have an overactive imagination and are excellent at lying to yourself.
I guess I should quit watching horror films.
Then again; I love horror films. Think how much I'd miss!

Sooo the basic point is that insomnia's actually sort of cool, but only under the right circumstances.
And also that I should try watching horror films early in the morning rather than late at night, which helps nothing xD

Animal Lover? No.

One thing that really pisses me off is that people think that if you are vegetarian you must be an animal lover.

To me, it reminds me of To Kill A Mockingbird where everyone calls Atticus' family "N***** lovers" because he defends a black man in a rape case (the black guy was pretty innocent but everyone else was pretty racist). It's like; you defend this, so you must love this.

TBH, I don't really give a fudge about animals. They're just... there. So long as they aren't suffering, I don't give a crap what they do etc etc etc.

I wish people would quit making stupid assumptions. Sorry to be grumpy, but I'm in a bit of a stress at the moment anyway (iTunes deleted all my songs. £300+ GONE). I'm no animal lover, I'm just a person who dislikes bad things and does her best to correct them.

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate animals either-- cows are gorgeous, cats are beautiful and birds are pretty skilled -- but I am not interested in them.
COMPARISON:
My brother, David, wants to be a naturalist when he grows up. He watches nature programmes pretty often and owns many David Attenborough shits. He eats meat and wears leather.
I don't give a carp about animals. Nature programmes bore me, and Mr Attenborough needs to get speech therapy for his voice, which he seems to be perpetually losing. However, I do feel compassion toward the suffering that animals go through that is inflicted by we malicious humans, and so do not eat or wear them.

David = animal loving meat eater.
Becki = vegetarian whose interest in animals starts and finishes with cruelty.

See?

Prejudice and Discrimination Analysed

As far as I can tell, at the root of all prejudice and extreme, prolonged discrimination is a belief that those one is prejudiced against are of less value than oneself.

For Example (where I use the past tense I speak of attitudes at the time):
It was fine to keep black people as slaves, they were savages. Not even human.
It was fine to kill native australians. In fact they even cast a vote to decide whether or not they could be classed as human.
It was fine to beat your kid. They were just kids, they were stupid, and besides, they would hardly fight back now would they?
It was fine to treat women as second class citizens as they are physically and were mentally weaker than men, therefore inferior.
It was fine to kill Jews in the holocaust. They were the source of all bad; kill the bad and you get your perfect world. Congratulations on you good deed, Herr Hitler.
It was/is fine to deny gays marriage rights. They're/were hardly going to be increasing the population, and besides they all had aids.
It's/was fine to say that gypsies are lying cheating stealing folk: they are/were.
[All the above I and the maj of the population know to be bollocks. Please do not confuse my irony with my opinion]

It is fine to test on and consume animals. They are mentally inferior. This makes it all OK.

In the holocaust they tested on Jews and blacks and gypsies. That was OK, they were inferior. Please do not be offended by the comparison, but mammals and some other animals and humans share exceptionally similar nervous systems. They feel pain as we do. Some can form close family bonds. I doubt that you would appreciate being torn from your parents, locked in a pen and fed for years until you were finally killed. Neither do they. Please bear this in mind.

The point I am trying to get across to you is this; if you think anything, anything at all, is less worthwhile then yourself, try re-evaluating your opinion. Because that is, time and time again, the excuse we have used to justify our most despicable and inhuman acts. They say the point of studying history is to learn from it; so learn.
I will soon be blogging about Equal Rights, in which I shall explain how everything is equal + how this view hopefully leaves no room for prejudice.

Things That Pissed Me Off Today

This should be fun hahahhahah!

  • In history we randomly got onto the subject of benefits. Someone said that people who are on benefits "should be shot" for "stealing our money". I share a house with 4 other people. Every single one of us brings in benefits in one way or another, and none of it is for sitting on our ass all day instead of getting a job. Feel free to email me if you're curious; I don't mind talking about it but Im not shouting financial details on the interwebz lol.
  • People stressing at person for doing essentially fuck all. People are always getting pissed at person, often for no good reason, and it pisses me off.
  • People acting like Im person's bumchum when I try and stick up for person.
  • Kirby roping me into an extra half hour of shitty prefecting in order to get out of form because today was planner checking and Kirby has filled my planner with detailed diagrams of the Male Organ. Yeah.
  • Getting home and seeing a benefit fraud advert on TV in which all the people were chavvy. I have nothing against chavvy people but I get sick of people (not the people who were pissed at person, just generally) thinking that all people who are on benefits are chavvy.

Im done.

For the sake of balance, the school newsletter ran an article about "chicken abuse" - ie battery cages which made me happy as it was the first time I'd seen such a thing in popular media (the school thing counts, all 800 of us get it lol).

Killing Is Wrong

I figured I better do this blog since I seem to be mentioning killing more and more in these blogs.

This will be short compared to some of mine, d/w =]

Killing = Wrong.

But of course it isn't that simple. Things are never simple if you look hard enough.

Euthanasia = okay, depending on circumstances.
Abortion = Often okay but not nearly as good as being fat for 9 months and giving it to social services for the sake of giving it a chance at life.
Killing for food = okay if essential for your own survival. If humans were carnivores (we are omnivores atm), I would be pro-animal welfare rather than veg. We have to be reasonable, after all.
To save the world = ? This is purely theoretical, but if I had to kill you or watch the whole world be destroyed I would probably have a hard time deciding what to do. Even if you would die anyway from the world being destroyed and all.
I will prolly blog separately about the above when I feel the time comes.

Otherwise though, killing = always wrong.

BECAUSE:

To condone the killing of one, is to condone the killing of all

The death penalty is bollocks. You're a killer; so imma kill you. That makes logical sense, I don't think.
War is bollocks. The leader of My Great Nation happens to have entered into a dispute with the leader of some Foreign Bastards nation. So Imma go out there and kill people because I Must Defend My Country.
Self-preservation is bollocks. Kill or be killed? Die, be a hero, a martyr, keep the moral high ground. Or you can live another 20, 30, 40 years waking up screaming night after night with that guy's face as you turned the gun on him in the forefront of your mind.
Food is bollocks. I'm hungry, I think I'll go buy some dead shit. Delicious. Never mind that I just paid for a sentient being to die because I was peckish. Who gives a crap anyway, they're only animals.
Self defence is bollocks. Im going to stab the shit out of you because you looked at me funny. I think you had a gun... Hard to tell, I was too busy killing you to notice.

I will add more examples as I think of them; feel free to comment more ideas.
I am aware that the tone of this blog sounds somewhat close-minded; I made it that way for the purpose of making you think and perhaps sparking a discussion.

Becki Rather Begrudgingly Supports "Her" Troops to an Extent

This is gonna be another one that could potentialy offend. But only if you're pretty sensitive to things such as this lol. My apologies in advance if I do.

Okay well as some/all of you may/may not know I am a pascifist.

To clarify: I believe (know) that violence solves nothing. If anything it simply worsens the original problem. To get an idea of my perspective on things: IMO there is only one war, that I know of, that was even remotely justified and that was the one against Hitler. Even that could have been better dealt with in a peaceful manner, which would have minimised the death toll. If WWIII broke out tomorrow, and they let those of my age enlist, I would not. Nor would I work in a munitions factory. I would "do my bit", I would "help with the war effort"; I'd become a nurse and save as many as I could. Anything; so long as I do not contribute to the killing.
My gran reckons I get this from my grandpa (who died 4 years before I was born, so I don't see how, but anyway), who was also a pascifist. One time he lost his job over his views. Pascifists are sometimes labelled cowards; we do not dare take up arms and risk our lives fighting. No I say. I would gladly give my life if it stopped a war. It is not a case of cowardice, more a case of valuing life and peace more than some might.

Now on a Facebook group I recently found the following:

It Is The Soldier
It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the student organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Now luckily this is wholly untrue. If it were true, and we lived in a world where everything we had had been bought with lives, been gained by having more guns than the other side, then I would probably give up on the world and on life and either live out the rest of my days in a hopeless depression or just (ironically) turn a gun on myself. I couldn't live in that world, hell no.

Given what I've said so far you may find it hard to believe that I support the troups. Well, I do - to an extent.
I am hugely grateful for their sacrifice in signing up, thus saving me from potentially being conscripted due to lack of volunteers.
I admire their courage and their apparent wish to make things better, even if I do think they're going about it the wrong way.
I also feel that, in some ways, I am a coward. I wouldn't be able to cope with fighting a war. I don't even pay other people to kill animals for me to eat, imagine if someone put a gun in my hands and told me to shoot another human! I jump when the tost pops out the toaster; I'd lose my mind crouched alone in the midst of a hail of bullets. So I respect their thoughness, even if it does scare the crap out of me that anyone could endure that.
I also know many people who have fought or wish to go into service in later life. They do not stop being wonderful people just because they want to defend their country, or whyever they do what they do. I am quite willing to support them in their decision if that's what they want to do.

However.
I do not wish to support their war.
15% of taxes go toward the military. I don't want to pay to have people killed. A friend of my pascifist grandfathers actually withheld this 15% because he felt the same. He went to prison. This, I say, is grossly unfair. I have no intention of going to prison; nor do I intend to fund war. What option do I get? Prison, pay for something I do not wish to support and make my pascifism meaningless, or earn so little that I don't pay tax? Prison doesn't sound so bad... They only take your freedom + dignity. It's not sooo bad.
Also:
I do not support the killing. I'm not sure how wars are even allowed; I mean, murder is illegal most everywhere.
But then again- some places you get killed for killing. Yeah, like that makes sense. So I suppose I can see how people can allow such things to take place.
Understanding why it happens doesn't make me feel any better about it though.

If you have any comments or queries please click "comment" and share them. Once again, I do not mean any offence to anyone. I have only stated my own opinions and viewpoint; I am not criticizing yours.
